I have degenerative disc disease in my cervical spine area. Because of an increase in symptoms, I had to take early retirement; and coping with my new life is not at all what I thought it would be. I'm very lucky...but my old life is gone and many of my old friends from that life as well. I'm unable to drive safely anymore, and that's really tough on my independence issues, but at least the pain is managed for the most part.
