Hi, all!! Being relatively new to the differently abled world, I am also new to this site, but I am excited about being able to share with others who share my ideas, thoughts, and goals.
About the title to my profile - until five years ago I was 5'9" tall. Then a really freak accident took my legs off about three inches above my knees. Of course I was despondent. I was only 24, had just graduated from college, and did have really nice legs. I still miss them, but the money I save on shoes! Seriously, I found out that wishing it had not happened, asking why, and all that other stuff would not bring my legs back. One doesn't know why things happen, but just has to try to make the best of whatever situation. I tried the prosthetic leg scene, but discovered that was not for me. I am much more comfortable in my wheelchair, and much more mobile I think. Faster anyhow! I just want people who can talk to me and treat me like I am a real person instead of just two leg stumps. I don't mind talking about my lack of legs, answering questions about my stumps and such. I just want to share other things as well. I don't currently have a "love interest". Maybe someday I can meet a really cute, short guy!
