widowed i am a full time dad to an 11 year old girl. my late wife was an amputee from bone infections. after 15 yrs. together i have an understanding of what a person with a disability encounters. despite the loss of a leg, she was a fulltime mother, worked fulltime and played harder then she worked. her disability never interferred in anything we did because we learned to work through it, around it, and when that didn't work, leaped over it. i am old enough and smart enough to know that there sometimes can be problems being a partner to a person with a disability. also old enough and smart enough to know that our relationship was just as rich and rewarding as any other relationship. you cut out the nonsense and get to the core of the relationship. it comes down to seeing the total person not just their disability.
