[Source: all (24) of the profiles that I've added to my Favorites as a new member of this site]
I like to write thoughtful, personalized messages to potential new acquaintances. This requires spending a little time with a profile... even if it's only a "Mini-message."

I've just added 24 profiles to my Favorites and I'm faced with a dilemma.

All of those profiles indicate, "Last time online: More than three months" ago, which doesn't bode very well that my thoughtful, personalized messages will be read by anyone, anytime soon, which is pretty discouraging.

The alternative to a personalized message, the pre-set, "do something," 'actions,' ie. "squeeze," "pray for," etc., almost all (even the 'upgrade' choices) seem severely awkward, inappropriate, rude, or would simply be out-of-character for me.

I happened to notice that some of the users whom I've added to my Favorites are members of multiple "Passions" sites, in addition to DisabledPassions.com

Questions:

(1) How can I know if email notifications/alerts are disabled for any user's profile? (Indicating that a user's notifications are disabled right on their profile, in addition to their last login, would seem to make good sense.)

(2) Isn't it true that Canadian users are required to explicitly consent to receiving email notifications, as a consequence of some anti-spam legislation, and the Help doc. isn't correct on this point for Canadian users? (I just became a member, and this was my experience.)

(3) Assuming that women's profiles, generally, receive more traffic than those of men on personals-type Web-sites, and that for a woman's profile to indicate, "last time online: more than three months," doesn't it seem highly likely that email notifications are disabled for that woman's profile?

(4) Does the "last time online" reflect the user's activity network-wide, on any of the "Passions" Web-sites where the user is also member, even if they may not have specifically logged-in to DisabledPassions.com?

(5) How long after "three months" without a login are these inactive/dormant profiles maintained on the site before being purged?

Thank you!

Wow, that is a lot of questions.

We could go through them one by one, but we are about to completely change our entire network system (from top to bottom).

Everything will look different, and there will be massive changes to how things work.

So, rather than go through your questions with detailed responses that will only be true for approx. another month or two, we would ask you to hold off until the new network design is rolled out.

We will say that you are better off focusing your attention on members who have been active within the last 3 months, and that will continue to be the case after the new network launch.

Also, the 'Actions' we provide (e.g. Smooch, Hug, etc.) in the new network design are likely to be much more limited and much more conservative (initially)...although we do like to provide options for people to have fun and express their personality in various ways, so additional 'Actions' will likely be added over time.

We do not currently display whether or not a member has disabled their personal email notifications, and it is unlikely we will display that in the new system (although we will look into whether or not to allow members to choose to display that information).

The 'Last Time Online' references the entire network, and not just the one site you happen to view another member on.

We do not disclose how long we maintain accounts that have been inactive, but we do have an ongoing process to delete old, inactive accounts...and that process takes place daily.

That being said, you would be shocked at the number of members who log back into old, inactive accounts on a daily basis.

We think we've hit the highlights on your questions, but again everything is about to change in a BIG BIG way.

Our new network design will have a lot of new features that are meant to encourage more personal interaction in just about every area.

The new design is also what is referred to as a 'responsive mobile friendly' design, which means that the pages will change based on the screen size of your device, whether that be a computer, tablet, mini-tablet or mobile phone.

We are hopeful that the new design and the new features will encourage more people to join and interact within Passions Network.

So...considering our network is over 11 years old, it was about time for a change, and we are making it a HUGE one. Re-built and re-designed from the ground up!

We are hoping to launch version 1 of our new network within the next 2 months.

Thanks,

.
