Firecracker Films are currently looking for blind and visually impaired people in the UK for a documentary for the BBC about young people entering adulthood.
Are you:
- 15-25 years old
- Highly independent, outgoing, and have an active social life
- Keen to challenge stereotypes
- In a relationship, looking for love, or just about to start dating
If the above applies to you then we would love to hear from you.
Were not looking to stereotype, judge or pigeonhole anyone. This documentary is very much about the universal issues of becoming an adult – and will follow a small number of people in their everyday lives on that journey.
If this sounds of interest to you or you know someone who might like to find out more please get in touch and help us spread the word.
Feel free to join our Facebook group – The Blind Me , email me at: paula(at)firecrackerfilms(dot)com or call me on: 020 7349 3487.
Many thanks!

`Look in Birmingham near to Harbourne I have Aspergers Syndrome and I whent to a Special Needs College called QAC (Queen Alexandrea College) wich is specifically Geard to the needs of those with Visual Impairments, now while I only have a very mild sight problem I can see fine (Astigmatisim) I just need to wear glasses, but my real problems lie with my learning difficulties and Aspergers Syndrome and Since QAC caters for people with other disabilities as well as Visual Impairments that is were I went to College, How Ever if your looking for people who are blind, or have Cataracts and thins like that you should check out QAC college, not only do they take college students with Visual Impairments, nut they have an Independence Plus Program geared up for the same kind of thing, (I will be joining that program probably next year), wear they teach people in the age range your looking at, how to live on their own, pay their own bills, look after a flat on their own or with a room mate, do shopping on their own and cook on their own. You will find many people their with visual impairments some of which I will probably know. As for personality they are just the type you are looking for, they all love a challenge, many are well maybe slightly cheeky in the humors joky kind of way, their will be alot of them that will have other problems such as learning difficulties or other disabilities as well as visual impairments so you may need to be careful as to how you explain things to them or even with the selection process, they are all a very friendly bunch once you get to know them, though many may be very cautious at first, and they are all up for a laugh as well as a good bit of hard labor and i garente you not one would turn down an opportunity to make the general public more aware of the difficulties facing young people as they enter adult hood with a visual impairment.
contact details
www.QAC.ac.uk ask to speak to Angiler Lichfield and Alan Hamer their telephone numbers and the switchboard number for qac can be found on the contact page of the qac website
