I have a few I was born with~
A rare vision disorder called "Incomplete Achromatopsia". I have some color blindness & am very nearsighted & have problems making out details at distances & lighting conditions affect it. I usually see better in lower light. There is no cure or treatment available but genetic research mite help in the future. I cant drive cuz of it & it wasn't diagnosed till my high-school senior year.
I also have a tremor disorder called "Essential Tremors" & I shake when I'm using fine motor-skills or am nervous, tired, stressed ect. I wasn't diagnosed with that till after high-school. I've tried lots of meds but had very bad reactions.
I have learning problems as well including Dyslexia. It's very likely my dad has that to. A few years ago I was diagnosed as having Asperger Syndrome but when I got officially tested for it; it was changed to a personality disorder instead. Docs seemed to think my learning problems, vision & bad experiences in childhood related to all that caused the AS appearance.
That's a lot :?

`Hi Folks,
I was born with Klinefelter's Syndrome...or a version of it anyway. My Karyotype being: 46xy/47xxy Mosaic. Unfortunately, I got the short straw and I've ended up with all.....or most of the secondary conditions that this condition gives you such as ADHD, ASD...........oh, the list goes on and on and on...................
I've also got Cervical and Lumber Spondylosis, Osteoporosis, one kidney and Hypertension and Thyroid whatsit......oh the list goes on and on and on
On the positive side of things, I don't give a dam, life's too short and besides, why complain........there's always someone else willing to do that for you!
I enjoy life..........and if it's hurting well I'll just wait until it's not hurting too much and then I'll bounce back. Bad buggers run in my family and I'm the worst lol.
By the way, I've just had my 61st birthday and proved most quacks wrong, they said I'd be in a wheel chair by 2007 and aren't so there! :-)

I have schizoaffective disorder. Its genetic and triggered by a traumatic event in your life. I experienced a form of abuse and couldn't deal with the circumstances. I was stressed, depressed, and fearful. I am now on meds and have been doing well for at least 10 years ago. It has taught me strength, humility, trust, self discipline, and the love of friends and family and care of healthcare workers. I have had bad and worse days but I'm still here and thankful to God for that. I have done very well for my disorder my doctor has said and I will continue to try the best I can to take care of my disability.

Hi wuffjustice - it's nice to meet you. What a small world; I was born with Turner's Syndrome. That's the ladies' version of Klinefelter's Syndrome, and I'm 45xx; what they call a Mosaic. I was also hit hard; problems ranging from hypothyroidism to hearing and vision deficits, liver malfunction, infertility, and skeletal deformities from Paget disease of bone. I totally agree with your positive attitude and try to live my life the same way. |
