I did the same, sent mail and got no response. Then I noticed on the profile "Im not available" Maybe that is why? So many say not available.

See my prior reply regarding IM's.

Separately, you can see if someone has read your email messages to them by clicking on the 'Sent' folder within the Email Management area.

Email messages are maintained for 2 months, so if they have read it within that time frame, you will know.

This is a good way to see if someone just hasn't read your message, or if they have, and have chosen not to reply for some reason.

Thanks,

Diito - nada. No reply. I would think that folks would be thrilled to have the opportunity to communicate for FREE! You have to pay at most sites!
This is FREE! Sorry if I sound critical. I just am disappointed.

We are a little confused by some of the comments in this thread, and we thought we ought to explain something that might be contributing to the problem.

Within a member's profile, there are a number of different ways to try and contact them:
Email
IM (Instant Message)
Smooch
Mini-Message

In order to IM someone (ie. send an Instant Message that will pop-up on their computer screen), they need to be online at the same time you are.

If someone is not online, then it will say 'IM not available', which does not mean 'I AM not available'...it means 'Instant Message not available'.

If you would like to try and contact someone when they are not online, you are welcome to use the other options...email, smooch and mini-message (which posts a comment directly on their profile page).

We see large amounts of messages flowing through the system on a regular basis (and being opened and read). As we've mentioned in the past, you can see when someone reads your email to them by clicking on the 'Sent' folder within the email area.

Separately, another way to initiate contact is to post messages in the forums, like this. It draws people into conversation, and spotlights your profile on both the homepage and within the forums area.

We are working on the new 'video' section, which will allow members to post videos as well...which will also highlight member profiles.

Hopefully this helps to explain the confusion some people have had with the 'IM not available' message appearing within member profile pages.

Thanks,
8)
