I hope I do not break any rules here.

I have found out, that is in my life, That love is a choice we make. Also that desire is a powerful emotion. Both of these are what bring 2 people together. They are both very important. It is that whatever you desire most in someone, decides if you choose to love. Sometimes I feel the need to look beyond physical desire and look at desired characteristics. However if you can find both types of desire in one person, decide to choose love. You will maybe have to step out of your comfort zone sometimes, but you could hit the jackpot! You will never find it, if you do not make that first step. Sometimes we all feel we may not be what the other person is looking for, but hey, we are all here, LOOKING.
May all your searches go well. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you do connect with that special someone. Thats all. Ellie

I like how that was said. I know about the Desire part.. and by itself it is most often destructive. I found out the hard way this time last year finally letting someone into my life.. I had the Desire to have someone accept me for who I am..

Unfortunately, my Desire overrode my better judgement and she simply walked through my life and took my belongings and sold everything..

Love, is the true answer. I should have looked for that aspect before the desire.. but often times it seems those things that side step us in life make other parts of us want more, and more then not.. that part of us that wants "more" is blind.

Thanks for putting it into such a great perspective.

I know how you feel mate. I am 52 years of age and i have been lonely since i left school in 1975. What makes it harder for me is i am a bit shy and very quiet also i am ashamed of my body as i am disabled through a road accident i had many years ago. I come from chester cheshire and i think the girls here aviod disabled people. But good luck to you mate!. Sad

Yeah I mean if you're disabled at a point in your life where you're able to remember, it's pretty much guaranteed that you're gonna want to be the way you were. I think that both love/personality are equally important to looks if not more. A lot of it is just finding the person that makes you happy and maybe the person that made you smile ought to beat the super-model.

Ellie, who started this thread made several good points about love and desire. Having been married many years, it seems there are other facets of both love and desire.

Ones love is both selfish and unselfish. Selfish love affects us, especially when desire is strong. Unselfish love, wanting your loved one to be happy, is not always easy because of differences. For example, your desires and your loved one's desire may not coincide.

Differences can wreck a relationship, and few people can be unselfish enough to enjoy your loved one having another relationship. It's time to evaluate your options and have a heart to heart. Unfortunately, some people become violent during break-ups; it is a way of coping that is sometimes self-destructive. It is in these times we need to feel unselfish love.

Everyone leaves a footprint.
